What’s a true Jewish beauty, anyway?
Set in the legendary communal dressing room of Loehmann’s Discount Designer Clothing store (of blessed memory), an all-women vaudeville show with live music introduces two versatile actors, a gifted musician — and a cranky wardrobe attendant named Lilith (yes, that Lilith) to answer this surprisingly profound question.
Together, they portray a tribe of beautiful, brave and brilliant Jewish women from every era — icons of the Torah and the screen, historic leaders and unsung heroines — who share their secrets and songs with humor, heart and occasionally, a no-nonsense opinion from Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Originally conceived as a Fringe show, Behold Her premiered at the National Museum of American Jewish History, becoming one of the top-selling independently produced shows at the 2018 Philadelphia Fringe Festival.
Audiences insisted that we take Behold Her on the road. Because Jewish women — in fact, all women — and anyone who knows or loves a Jewish woman — will relish seeing her reflected in the trials and triumphs of Jewish beauties from Eve through Instagram.
